Designing the Classroom of Tomorrow: Advanced Technologies in Education
This event builds on the results of three previous successful symposia on designing the school of tomorrow (Athens, 2004; Kefalonia, 2004; Athens 2007), organized within the framework of European Science Week. The aim of the symposium is to bring together individuals and teams from a wide range of education and technology fields, teachers and students to look into the future of the school classroom.
In this symposium we assign to mobile learning and game-based learning a distinctive role in the classroom of tomorrow. Mobile technologies are embedded, ubiquitous and networked with enhanced capabilities for rich social interactions, context awareness and internet connectivity. Game-based learning is opening up new potential for learning in formal and informal situations and in innovative ways by offering new opportunities to reach and motivate hard-to engage learner groups, support differentiated and personalized learning, and provide new tools for teaching basic and key skills.
After the completion of the symposium the power point presentations of the talks will be found on-line.
