Postdoctoral Fellows at Macau
Call for Applications - Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in Peer-Production Models for e-Learning. UNU-IIST, Macau SAR China

The United Nations University - International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST), located in Macau, is accepting applications for positions as postdoctoral fellows to be involved in a high-profile portfolio of projects in the area of peer-production models for e-Learning, within a collaboration between UNU-IIST Programme on Strategies and Technologies for Education and UNU-IIST Programme on Electronic Governance for Sustainable Development. The fellow will be directly involved in the development of e-learning models based on the peer-production paradigm. This will include definition of frameworks for research design in the analysis of collaborative networks, design of novel analytical techniques for collaborative learning, especially in relation to Free/Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) projects, setup and coordination of FLOSS projects and design of e-learning tools for communication and sharing. In addition, the fellow will be involved in writing funding proposals and may be involved in some teaching, locally in Macau as well as in industrialised and developing countries. The position is an opportunity to gain broad international exposure through collaboration with various international partners and experience managing a small research and development team.

Candidates for the position should have a PhD in software engineering or related field, project and stakeholder management experience, FLOSS project participation experience, e-learning background, computer-supported collaborative learning experience, knowledge of information retrieval and data mining techniques, strong programming ability, good English writing ability, ability to work independently and ability to manage a small research team. Background in multimedia systems and previous experience in working with e-learning tools as well as tools for revision control, testing, bug reporting and tracking, communication and software development management are advantages. The fellow will work under the direction of Dr. Antonio Cerone, UNU-IIST Research Fellow. The position is initially for 6 months, with possibility of extension. Salary is dependent on experience and research background and is in the range USD 2,000 - 2,500 per month, free of Macau tax. Health insurance and accommodation (except utility costs) are provided free of charge.
