learning with visual and multi-modal representations, collaborative
learning, or mobile and contextual learning?
LSRI is a centre of excellence for research in the Learning Sciences
and Technology Enhanced Learning. Research at the Institute explores the
fundamental processes and practices of learning, and how to design new
technologies and environments to enhance human learning.
The following funding opportunities will be available for 2011. *Please note deadline dates differ for each funding opportunity
University was recently successful in being selected by the UK's
Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as one of only 21 Doctoral
Training Centres (DTCs) accredited nationally. New fully funded PhD
studentships are available in areas across the social sciences and to
support interdisciplinary projects across respective schools.
Two funding routes are available: 3 year PhD and 4 year MA + PhD (1+3) awards.

Please note: ESRC
studentship awards cover tuition fees for Home/EU candidates who
satisfy the ESRC's eligibility requirements based on residency in the UK
for 3 years up to the start of the PhD. Candidates classed as
'International' or 'Overseas' for fees purposes will not be considered.

School of Education is also offering additional PhD studentship awards
to outstanding scholars to conduct research in key educational areas.
