Funding opportunities 2011 - Postgraduate awards- Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI), The University of Nottingham
Are
you interested in designing learning technologies, game based learning,
learning with visual and multi-modal representations, collaborative
learning, or mobile and contextual learning?
The
LSRI is a centre of excellence for research in the Learning Sciences
and Technology Enhanced Learning. Research at the Institute explores the
fundamental processes and practices of learning, and how to design new
technologies and environments to enhance human learning.
The following funding opportunities will be available for 2011. *Please note deadline dates differ for each funding opportunity
ESRC studentships
The
University was recently successful in being selected by the UK's
Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as one of only 21 Doctoral
Training Centres (DTCs) accredited nationally. New fully funded PhD
studentships are available in areas across the social sciences and to
support interdisciplinary projects across respective schools.
Two funding routes are available: 3 year PhD and 4 year MA + PhD (1+3) awards.
These
are highly competitive and applications must be supported by a research
proposal. Applications for full time or part time study are welcome.
Please note: ESRC
studentship awards cover tuition fees for Home/EU candidates who
satisfy the ESRC's eligibility requirements based on residency in the UK
for 3 years up to the start of the PhD. Candidates classed as
'International' or 'Overseas' for fees purposes will not be considered.
Deadline date: 23 March 2011
School of Education Studentships
The
School of Education is also offering additional PhD studentship awards
to outstanding scholars to conduct research in key educational areas.
Funding: 3 year PhD Awards
Please note: Students
classed for fee purposes as overseas nationals may apply for School of
Education studentships, but will only qualify for the stipend and
payment of fees at the home rate (due to funding restriction). Overseas
students need to indicate in their application how the balance of the
international fee will be paid (e.g. other sponsors, self-financing).
Qualifications
Candidates
should have or expect to gain a good honours degree (usually at least a
2.1) in an undergraduate degree or Masters degree in Education,
Psychology, Computer Science or a related subject relevant to the
learning sciences.
How to apply
Applications should be made through the Postgraduate Online Applications portal (https://pgapps.nottingham.ac.uk/) Please state carefully on your application which funding opportunity you are interested in.
