Call for presentations or workshops at the 6th Joint Technology Enhanced Learning Summer School. June 6 - 12, Lake Orhid, Macedonia
We would like to invite researchers to make an input (for example a lecture or a workshop) at the sixth JTEL Summer School (www.jtelsummerschool.eu/) for PhD students working in the disparate fields of Technology Enhanced Learning. The JTEL summer schools usually attract about 80 researchers, providing an exciting forum for cross-disciplinary dialogue, fostering new research collaborations and partnerships, and an opportunity for the next generation of TEL researchers to gain insight from leading experts in the field.
This year's Summer School will take place from June 6 - 12, on beautiful Lake Ohrid in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
Lectures and workshops will be organised within the framework of three Grand Challenges:
- Connecting learners
- Orchestrating learning
- Contextualising learning environments
Short descriptions of these Grand Challenges are in the document attached.
If you would like to contribute to the summer school programme, please send the following information, by March 19th 2010, to summerschool@i5.informatik.rwth-aachen.de :
Short description: One paragraph to 1/2 page, to include an outline of your proposed topic area and an indication of the contribution the session will make to the Grand Challenges agenda of the summer school.
Short biography of the lecturer or workshop organiser: 10 lines maximum, including link to homepage
The programme committee will contact you to negotiate how your proposed contribution could be tailored to fit into the programme. Funding for PhD students will be provided by grants from STELLAR, the Austrian Science and Research Liaison Office and the European Association for Technology Enhanced Learning. We are also hoping that projects will be able to provide sponsorship equalling €1000 to €2000 in the form of travel and accommodation costs for lecturers and PhD students. JTEL Summer School 2009 attracted 13 such sponsors.
The logo of all sponsors will be displayed on the JTEL Summer School website, and there will be opportunities to distribute flyers and other dissemination materials at the event. You will be able to showcase your work in poster sessions, and we welcome to other suggestions for dissemination.
We look forward to receiving your proposed contribution and to working with you to develop a coherent programme of educational opportunities for PhD candidates.
With best wishes,
The 6th JTEL Summer School Organising Committee
