Learning Sciences Research Institute (LSRI) - PhD Studentships 2009
The LSRI is a centre of excellence for research in the learning sciences and in technology enhanced learning. The LSRI brings together staff
from the Schools of Education, Psychology and Computer Science, as well as expertise from other disciplines and offers advanced facilities to
support PhD research. Research themes include: playful and game-based learning; learning cultures and contexts, visual thinking and learning;
cognition and learning; collaborative learning; mobile and contextual learning; classroom interaction; mixed-reality learning technology and mathematical cognition.
The LSRI is offering Research Studentships in the following areas:
* Visual Learning in Higher Education (Joint with the Visual Learning Lab).
* Cognitive Tutoring for Hearing Remediation (Joint with National Biomedical Research Unit in Hearing).
* Mixed Reality Technology for Second Language Learning, EPSRC Industrial CASE studentship with Sharp Laboratories of Europe (Ltd) (Joint with the Mixed Reality Lab).
Open PhD studentships are also available at the LSRI for excellent proposals that address any area of the learning sciences.
Students should hold, or expect to obtain, at least a 2.1 in an undergraduate degree, or a Masters degree in psychology, computer science, education or related discipline.
