The Kaleidoscope Learning Grid SIG (http://grid.noe-kaleidoscope.org), the European FP6-IST-EU project grid4all (http://grid4all.eu) and the MosaicLearning project (http://mosaic.gast.it.uc3m.es)

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
Collaborative learning systems have caused a drastic change in the way people focus work and learning, especially at a distance. An influencing issue concerns the analysis of both the systems performance and group interactions. The latter constitutes an important factor for group monitoring, support and performance. To support and enhance collaboration and learning, P2P and grid middleware and applications have opened new interesting possibilities. One the one hand, P2P allows collaborators to share their own resources; on the other hand, grid facilitates the access to remote learning services and resources not affordable locally as well as the increase of the participants' capacity to carry out specific tasks. Special emphasis is given to systems and applications that focus on participants that provide their own resources for the achievement of their goals.
This workshop aims at providing a forum for academic researchers, professionals and practitioners to exchange their experiences and their ideas about problems and solutions related to the design, development and use of groupware learning systems and applications. Researchers can report their ideas, models, designs and experiences on the proposed topics.

On 10 September 2007

In engineering education, there have been notable front runners that have paved the way for others on the issue of Sustainable Development, and two decades after Brundtland, various engineering schools have accepted the challenge of teaching it to future engineers. Reflecting this increase in interest, The European Journal of Engineering Education has published already several articles analyzing and reflecting on SD teaching practices.

In this special issue, we want to go beyond factual reports on technical subjects, curriculum change and institutional embedding. Although we might learn from reports on each other’s successful course or subject, we are really looking for comparative studies focusing on best practices at each level of SD integration.

Those that are interested in submitting a paper are invited to submit by mail a one page abstract, before September 10, 2007, to the special issue editors.

For further information or to receive some feedback on your ideas, you can contact the editors of this special issue.
