The Kaleidoscope network is ending 2005 with new research in the concepts and methods of technology-enhanced learning, which is featured at this year's Online Educa Berlin:

Thursday, December 1 - 16:15 - 17:30 "The Future of E-Learning: Some Bright New Ideas" features three snapshots of research in different areas of e-learning, by Kaleidoscope members.

Thursday, December 1 - 17:45 - 19:15: Kaleidoscope member Barbara Wasson of InterMedia/University of Bergen (Norway) will give a keynote speech entitled "The Future of Research on Technology Enhanced Learning"

Friday, December 2 - 14:30 - 15:30 Kaleidoscope member Mike Sharples of the University of Nottingham (UK) will present "Informal Mobile Learning."

In the exhibition, Kaleidoscope showcases its full range of research. Four of its international research projects are conlcuding. Mike Sharples is part of one, "Mobile learning in informal science settings," which has just published reports on mobile learning, science and collaborative acitivity.

One of the "Bright New Ideas" session participants, Agathe Merceron of Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci (France) was part of the project "Design patterns for recording and analysing usage of learning systems," which is completing a set of design patterns for technology-based learning environments.

Kaleidoscope is a Network of Excellence which brings together European teams in technology-enhanced learning. Its goal is to integrate 80 research units from around Europe, covering a large range of expertise from technology to education, from academic to private research. Altogether, it is a community of more than 1000 researchers in 23 countries which have joined in their efforts to develop new concepts and methods for exploring the future of learning with digital technologies.
