The program that Prof. Lindström described is cross-disciplinary, like the Virtual Doctoral School. It is financed by a Swedish funding agency and run by Gothenburg University. It started merely as a funding scheme, and has evolved into a doctoral school. Students are accepted by a home faculty, and spend one semester at LearnIT at the university. This provides a common curriculum with some mandatory and some optional seminars.
