The First International Kaleidoscope Symposium on Technology Enhanced Learning was held 6 to 8 July, 2005 in Oberhausen, Germany. From here you can access reports from all the Symposium activities. Of particular interest may be the keynote speeches:
Tak-Wai Chan of National Central University in Taiwan watches Mark Jansen of the University of Duisburg-Essen demonstrate COLDEX
Workshops were held for the Kaleidoscope backbone activities. The Academy-Industry Digital Alliance workshop featured invited talks about case studies in academic-industrial collaboration. The revised plan for the Advanced Training Institute was presented. The Shared Virtual Laboratory was described and demonstrated. The Users' Group workshop included talks about linking researchers and users. And the first year of the Virtual Doctoral School was discussed, with a review of the first two courses, a comparison of doctoral programs throughout Europe, and plans for the future.
Kaleidoscope joint projects and research teams had a shared session, with each one making a brief presentation then splitting into a poster session for free discussion.
There were showcases of state-of-the-art projects in technology-enhanced learning. Of these video is available of a few: CAERUS, COLDEX, and . All the showcases are described here.
The Symposium was introduced by Patricia Manson of the European Commission. Additional welcome addresses were provided by local representatives.
