Conference : Lifelong Learning for all: e-learning from concept to practice

This conference will explore the role of distributed e-learning through four main themes:

Facilitating progression
Supporting collaborative teaching and sharing of resources across institutions
Supporting the independent lifelong learner
The role of community in distributed learning

Workshop : IEEE International Workshop on Context Aware Ubiquitous Learning

Held in conjunction with The IEEE International Conference on Sensor Networks, Ubiquitous, and Trustworthy Computing

Context aware ubiquitous learning is a computer supported learning paradigm for identifying learners' surrounding environment and social situation to provide integrated, interoperable, pervasive, and seamless learning experiences. The objective of context aware ubiquitous learning is to move Web and mobile learning a step further from learning at anytime anywhere to be at the right time and right place with right learning resources and right learning peers.

Conference : Wireless Cities 2006 Conference

International Wireless Cities 2006 Conference congregates the experts of wireless technology to Oulu

Wireless Cities 2006 Conference is aligned among others for the experts of the product development, production and decision-making, professionals and researchers. The conference handles the newest innovations of wireless technology, wireless service applications for example from the fields of learning, health care, e-government and development of city networks.

There are top international experts and numerous European co-operative projects. The near future will be visualised by Dr. Arto Karila.

The conference is arranged as a part of an international Wireless Cities -project, which task is to exchange international know-how, the development of new wireless service applications and making them noted. The project has co-operators from Spain, Northern Ireland, Germany, Italy and Poland. Finland is represented by the City of Oulu via the Competence Oulu 400 -programme.

Other : Innovating Problem Based Learning through ICT

Kaleidoscope participants, Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld and Ann Bygholm of Aalborg University (Denmark) are organising an international seminar on Innovating Problem Based Learning through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The aim of the seminar is to share the experiences and the learning generated by researchers and pedagogical designers using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to innovate teaching and learning with the national and international community. Many researchers are participating in international projects employing Problem Based Learning (PBL) and similar concepts in international contexts. ICT is often the vehicle for collaboration and transformation. The seminar focuses on the integration of ICT and problem oriented project-based learning and more generally on issues and aspects related to the transformation of face-to-face learning into innovative teaching and learning using ICT. The seminar shares a special interest in understanding intercultural conditions for the ICT and learning transformation process such as pedagogical traditions, human resources and competence building, and social and cultural issues.
