experience (salary can progress to £36,912 per annum, subject to performance) -
(£25,135 maximum without PhD).
Applications are invited for the
above post from candidates with a proven record of research in human-centred
design of computer-based systems for learning. The successful candidate
will form part of an interdisciplinary research team involved in the newly
established National Biomedical Research Unit in Hearing (NBRUH) funded by the
Department of Health National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). Staff
of the Unit will be drawn from the Medical Research Council Institute of
Hearing Research, The University of Nottingham (Psychology, Learning Sciences,)
and Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. This post will be based within
the Learning Sciences Research Institute of the University of Nottingham,
but will be an integral member of the NBRUH.
The successful candidate will
assist in the design and implementation of learning technologies to support
auditory learning in children and adults with hearing difficulties, based on
techniques from the field of auditory perceptual learning. Candidates
need not have prior experience of developing technologies in this particular
field. The person appointed will also be expected to undertake data
analysis, evaluation studies, report writing, and to contribute to
publications. System designs will need to be tailored to different ages
and needs requirements. Candidates should be able to communicate
effectively with a diverse range of people including children and adults.
Candidates should have, or be
about to complete, a PhD in learning technology, software design or a relevant
subject area. Evidence of publication will help demonstrate research
excellence. Knowledge of human-centred systems design and excellent
programming skills are essential. Experience of design and implementation
of learning technology is desirable.
