The Kaleidoscope infrastructure - pragmatic and scientific issues and how Kaleidoscope addresses these
There is a basic need to understand requirements and challenges to
optimize the performance of multi-national teams with associated
different languages, cultures and research backgrounds and to work with
these at conceptual and methodological levels across disciplines. This
in turn helps to identify and take forward necessary steps to
contribute to fulfilling aims outlined by the European Commission.
There is also a scientific need to advance TEL through convergence of
research experts from fields of social, educational and computer
sciences. The delivery of effective teaching and learning must draw
upon the skills and expertise of the broadest pool of research in order
to fit the many paradigms inherent across education.
Kaleidoscope addresses the issues through:
A
strategy to drive the scientific field forwards through collaboration
and convergence, through investigation and sharing of results;
Creation of Interdisciplinary teams from different countries, research backgrounds and fields;
Building
technological and scientific platforms to support researchers by
offering tools, services, resources and reference standards at a PhD
level;
Developing an understanding of
political and social issues important to the field within Europe and
proactively creating and utilising communication channels between
relevant stakeholders in education, industry (users of TEL products and
services in businesses as well as businesses developing TEL products
and services) to inform and advise;
Devising
and implementing dissemination strategies to engage and lobby academic
institutions, user and industry representatives and non-governmental
bodies;
Examining models of sustainability in order for TEL to have a global impact.
